The History of Our Vision Why is it that a continent (Africa) with the highest per capita share of our planet's natural resources is considered the most economically "backward"? Why is it that when African farmers and skilled artisans produce quality goods for world markets, these goods are traded and generate wealth for others, leaving the producers in poverty? With a lifetime of living in and traveling to and from Africa, Mutana, Inc. founder, Matti Foncha, set out in 1995 to develop a different form of trade to address these issues. The Mutana Marketplace's “micro-economic system” serves a transcontinental economic community consisting of producers of goods, logistics and trade facilitators, and consumers. It strategically manages the contribution of each participant, including associated market risks taken, and then ensures that market proceeds from sales are shared by its members in relation to the degree of risk assumed and skill contributed. Interdependence and reliability of the members of this micro-economic community are important attributes which Mutana Marketplace has diligently developed over the years. This has led to economic growth and has generated wealth for its members. Even as we remain committed to our vision of self-sufficient, non-exploitative and wealthy economic communities, we have not forgotten the divine origin of our wealth, our gifts of knowledge, creativity and abundance. For these we express our gratitude through our MEEYA™ natural products line, and with which, we are proud to say: “yes, we are changing our world” |
